race day information

  • The race starts at 0830 on the middle prom, 100m west of the Bandstand. (BN21 3AD). The race finishes at the same location. The race WILL NOT be starting at Holywell this year.

  • Race packs will be sent out approx. 2 weeks before the race date. Your race number (which includes your timing chip) should be visibly pinned to the front of your tee shirt or vest. Pins will be available on the day if you need them. Please ensure you complete the important safety information on the reverse of your number. If you ordered a 10k tee shirt or vest it will be included in the pack. If you are unable to participate, please let us know so we can remove your name from our start list. No refunds are available but if you wish to transfer your place to next year or another runner, please contact Sport Systems at least 2 weeks before the race date at:- enquiries@sportsystems.co.uk

    If a race number is passed to another runner without advising the organiser or Sport Systems, the runner will be disqualified and omitted from the results.

  • There will be one water station at approximately the half way mark outside the Sea Cadet Centre. We will be using disposable cups which we kindly ask you to dispose of as instructed by the Sea Cadets. Please only take one cup and refill if necessary as we aim to be as environmentally friendly as possible. If you need additional water, please carry a bottle with you. There will also be water available at the finish.

  • This race has not banned headphones, but from a safety point of view would prefer it if you did NOT wear them so you can hear the instructions from the marshals on the course.

  • Results will be available shortly after the event on the Sport Systems website. They will be available on this website too.

    You will also be sent a text message to the mobile number provided at the point of entry with your result.

  • There will be a medal for all finishers. Prizes will be awarded to 1,2,3 male & female, age grade % winners male & female, youth winners male & female (age 15-19) plus 1st position age groupers 40- 44, 45–49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 & 70+. There is also a £100 cash prize for anyone who breaks the course record 34:00 (male) & 37:15 (female). If more than 1 runner breaks the record, the cash prize will go to the quickest time only. We intend to hold the prizegiving at 9.45 – 10am for the podium winners (with the age groupers as soon as we can)

  • Wes Mechen of the Tempo Run Shop (67 Susan’s Rd, Eastbourne BN21 3TG) has kindly offered a discount of 20% for participants from 21st-28th June. Please show Wes your race number as proof of entry to claim the discount.

  • There is limited seafront and local street parking. Not all parking is free & the parking attendants can be keen so where needed, ensure you put enough money in to cover your run time. Where possible car share, use public transport, cycle, jog or walk to the start. There is free parking along the seafront if you are prepared to have a 10 -20 min walk to the start.

  • There is a toilet block located next to the start which the council have assured us will be open from 0730 at the latest. There are also additional toilets on route including those at Holywell and Fisherman’s Green.

  • There will be a baggage drop next to Race HQ. Should you leave any belongings with us you do so at your own risk. Volunteers will be manning the area. We will not be held responsible for any losses.
